Kongobuji
Located in the center of the Koya-town, Kongobuji is the Head Temple of Koyasan Shingon Buddhism for over 4,000 temples throughout Japan and overseas.
The original temple was built by Toyotomi Hideyoshi during 1593 in order to comfort the spirit of diseased his mother.
This magnificent temple contains the main temple, Okuden, Betsuden, Shin-betsuden, Shoin, Shin-shoin in addition to a variety of buildings like the Ajikan-meditation Hall, a Teahouse and the Mausoleum of Shinzen Daitoku.
