(1) 9:00am OKUNOIN Tour

    Meet at Ichinohashi Bridge

  Start at 9am.Hours:  90 minutes

This tour is over at 10:30 a.m. by the Gobyobashi Bridge in Okunoin

Included: English guide  

Not included: Meals, Transportation fees to and from the guiding place.

  (Tips)Okunoin is one of the two holly sites in Koyasan. It is Japan’s largest cemetery where more than 200 thousand of graves and memorials stand along the approach to the Mausoleum of Kobo Daishi.  

Who built the memorials? Who takes care of them? What’s the difference between Buddhism and Shinto? Your guide is glad to answer your questions.

This tour is over at 10:30am after seeing off the Buddhist monks offering meal to Kobo Daishi into his place.

(2) 13:00 or 15:00 GARAN & KONGOBUJI tour

    Meet at VIC at Daishikyokai Build 1F
*Come to the meeting place 10 minutes before the starting time .

◆(2) Garan & Kongobuji Walking Tour  1p.m. / 3p.m.Meet at Visitor Information Center (VIC) at Daishi Kyokai 1F.Start at 1pm or 3pm (twice a day)Hours: 90 minutes

This tour is over at the main temple building of the KongobujiIncluded: English guide, Admission of Daito

Not included: Admission of Kongobuji, Meals, Transportation fees to and from the guiding place. Pickingup and dropping off service. 

(Tips)Garan is one of the two sacred sites in Koyasan. It has long been the center of the doctrine and practices of Shingon Buddhism since 816 when Kobo Daishi Kukai began the construction of this Buddhist monastery. Also two different religions have been enshrined peacefully in the precinct of Danjo Garan. Our guide brings you into the Daito for more information about Shingon Buddhism. Admission of Daito is included.  

Kongobuji is the Head Temple of Koyasan Shingon Buddhism. Our guide explains you what to see inside as you can enjoy staying inside as long as you like.

 

From Monday to Friday in March through November, the Koyasan Weekday Walking Tours are provided by the Koyasan Interpreter Guide Club (KIGC) by the Koyasan Cross-cultural Communication Network (KCCN). KIGC is the Official Guide Club of Koyasan consisting of the licensed guides with knowledge, experiences and hospitality.
