Danjo Garan is another sacred site situated at the west side of the town.

It is the religious precinct where Buddhist monks gather for their practices. The construction of Garan started in the 9th century by Kobo Daishi himself and his successor, Shinzen Daitoku.

Now twenty structures stand in this Buddhist ground; Konpon Daito is the symbolic pagoda of Koyasan Shingon Buddhism, Kondo is the main hall of the entire mountain, Fudodo is the National Treasure, and the elegant structure Miedo is the most important one.

Also Shinto shrine situated at the west side of the Garan area is the first religious building constructed on this mountain.
